Women In Firearms
...have historically been underserved and sadly left by the wayside by most gun companies. Fortunately, in today's evolving landscape, we are seeing more products and environments pop up that are geared towards women and their right to defend themselves. Whether that is a training space or a concealed carry solution that is functional in whatever fashion, our industry can no longer turn a blind eye to supporting 2A women.
The Perfect Firearm For Women
The myth here is that women need a small gun that "she can handle." This is something that is simply not the case. The truth of the matter is that many "small" frame handguns are extremely snappy and actually harder to shoot.
It truly comes down to what fits a woman's hands the best and what she can carry and shoot the best. This often means a sweet spot of sub-compact firearms like the Walther PDP F-Series and Sig Sauer P365 Series. They are small enough to conceal successfully, but also very shootable in a self-defense scenario. Another great option on the market is the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 and Carry Comp. We recently covered these platforms on our YouTube channel. Check it out here.
The Best Holster For Women
The Tulster Profile Holster stands out as the perfect concealed carry option for women. Its minimal material allows it to disappear in shorts, dresses, and yoga pants. The Profile's full sweat-shield keeps the grip from rubbing against you for optimal comfort, and a strong plastic clip that does not dig into you. Not to mention, you can adjust the cant to optimize your carrying position.
The only drawback of the Profile is that it is not optic compatible. This is where the OATH Holster shines. It provides optic-compatibility without unnecessary bulk. Not to mention, this is a great holster to combine with the NeoMag Alias System. This combo does NOT require belt loops and can easily be hooked onto yoga pants or shorts.
Training For Women
The gear is great. It has to work, and it must be functional with everyday life. However, it will do you no good if you do not train with your EDC. That is why you must source instructors who are willing to help you grow. In Oklahoma, we love working with Michelle Waldran and Cristian Barron. Of course, dry-firing and watching educational content are extremely beneficial.
